Lanthionine Bridged Peptides
This product line has been selected to become very important for the portfolio
of Lotus Apothecary Project
Alleviate. Patents and patent applications shall be transmitted to
the company by the patent owner and LLC -shareholder, Dr. Winfried Kolbeck. The
idea and invention came from Murray Goodman, professor and leader of the Institute
of Organic Chemistry at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), USA. He
and his scientific group showed impressively that in many cases the concept to
substitute natural disulfide bridges by Lanthionine bridges is enhancing the stability
and efficacy of selected peptides significantly.
The top product of this line
is a lantionine bridged encephaline (a body's own factor to regulate pain) has
shown remarkable higher efficacy in pre-clinical experiments in comparison with
morphine (and encephaline). The bulk active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) has to be manufactured under
GMP conditions, as well, to be allowed for use in clinical studies. The
objective of Lotus Apothecary Project
Alleviate is to have synthesized this substance at
competent companies. Lotus Apothecary Project
Alleviate has access to under GMP conditions.
Later, the formulation for clinical application shall be done in Lotus Apothecary Project
Alleviate's plant.
A special aspect for this product is given due to a possibly combined application
with the pox virus preparation in the treatment of heavy tumor pains for
example. The pox virus preparations alone have already shown amazing results
in pain treatment of cancer patients. Combined with the increased efficacy
and specialty of the Encephaline derivative, it might be possible to offer
a significantly improved pain management, and to achieve human dignity for
cancer patients - especially in their final stadium (hospice).
